Hello there!

My name is Samantha Gaffney and I am a yoga teacher and photographer.

Here’s a little background about me and what this site is all about.

First off, YOGA! 🧘‍♀️

Years ago, I started yoga for a few different reasons:

💃 A dance teacher from college incorporated yoga and anatomy into his classes, which helped give me a foundational knowledge when I became more interested in yoga later.

💪 Also in college, I tried many different fitness plans. My favorite day was always yoga/stretch day.  Eventually, I stopped doing the intense fitness programs and started doing more yoga classes instead. Yoga was and still is much more enjoyable to me.

😊 Slowly I started noticing how much better I would feel after doing yoga, particularly during a stressful or emotional time.

I practiced yoga off and on for a few years until I really took notice of how good it felt. Not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. I struggled with anxious feelings all through school and beyond. Yoga was one of the first tools I found to help with that. I also struggled with a period of depression, and again, yoga was immensely helpful. It wasn’t a cure-all by any means, but still a useful tool in the whole kit of mental health.

Around this time I also got really interested and dove deeper into all yoga has to offer, including meditation, pranayama (breathing techniques), the chakras, sutras, limbs of yoga, crystals, and different yoga styles/traditions. I even took yoga teacher training, which I absolutely loved!

I want to share all the gifts yoga has to offer.  Yoga is more than what is commonly presented to us in the West. It’s more than super flexibility and headstands. There’s a quiet sense of peace I feel with yoga and meditation, and that’s what keeps bringing me back to it.

I’m sure there are many other people out there like me – craving peace and ease in their daily life. Yoga helps me to find that, and I believe it can for you too.


Now, to switch gears, you’ll also find photography on this blog. Photography is something else I’ve been interested in off and on over the years, but recently re-discovered the joy I find in it. I love photographing nature, animals, landscapes, and travels. Photography is a way to share and experience how others see the world, and I love being a part of that. 🌻
